The Bear Hugs Program helps ease the loss of a loved one in a creative and loving way. Talented volunteer sewers take clothing once worn by the deceased family member and create teddy bears from the fabric. One recipients of a bear commented: “He loved his jacket. I am so glad we used it to make the bear. What a memory! Thank you.”
Whispers from Home offers family and friends the opportunity to speak to their loved one by recording a favorite greeting, story, song, memory, or message, which volunteers transform into a CD, allowing patients to hear loving messages as often as they choose. It’s easy to record words that bring laughter, comfort, or simply reaffirm love. The process is easy and is transacted over the telephone, with volunteers taking the messages and turning them into treasured CDs. (LINK TO brochure PDF)
Legacy Project volunteers assist patients who want to record treasured memories. Volunteers are adept at gentle interviewing, editing, photography, video, and audio, providing a variety of options.
