Home Hospice is a non-profit United Way organization dedicated to the care of the terminally ill person and his/her family, to the care of those who grieve and to education and training throughout the community in the fields of dying, death and bereavement. Home Hospice of Grayson County began providing services in August, 1983, and since that time has provided care for over 1,300 dying persons, countless family members and people seeking bereavement care. We began in one small room loaned to Home Hospice by Grayson County College and with one nurse; now we occupy a new facility and have twelve nurses on duty throughout the three county area. Home Hospice came to Cooke County in 1988, when a group of concerned citizens in that county recognized the need for hospice services in that area. The necessary financial and volunteer support was developed and office space was donated. Currently, Home Hospice services all of Grayson and Cooke Counties and the western half of Fannin County.

Hospice care aims to enhance physical, emotional and spiritual comfort. The intent is to achieve as much dignity, hope and fullness in life as possible. To provide greater quality of life when the quantity of life cannot be increased.

Home Hospice provides services to terminally ill persons regardless of the ability to pay. At some point in the disease process financial resources may be exhausted, but hospice care will not be denied. Home Hospice provides the same expert ongoing services and interdisciplinary team intervention regardless of the financial status of the patient and family.
